When Success Starts Feeling Unsatisfying

Why the next evolution of your business begins with the next evolution of you.
Have you noticed that success has started feeling strangely unsatisfying?
When you first started your business, you felt absolute bliss every time you signed a new client or saw a notification about someone engaging with your content.
Every milestone felt monumental!
But over time, that excitement has softened. Almost, at times, to a mere whisper. What once felt like cause for celebration is now just a regular Tuesday afternoon.
Something inside you feels flat. You are still seeing progress in your business, but you can't seem to drum up the energy to feel genuine excitement about it.
You’re checking the numbers out of habit, but don’t feel connected to them in any way…
You launch something that you’ve worked tirelessly on and are on to the next task immediately…
You accomplish goals that would have once felt like a huge success but barely pause to celebrate…
It's not that you're not grateful for everything you've built. And it’s not that you are lazy, though perhaps a bit bored intellectually at this point.
The problem is not a lack of things to do, and it's not burnout. You've experienced that before and would recognize the signs.
This is something different.
YOU are different.
You've been walking the same path for so long. You don't even realize that you've been operating on autopilot. And behind the scenes, you've been evolving.
Maybe it's only been a year. Maybe six years have quietly slipped by in what seems like the blink of an eye; maybe you picked up your head for a moment, and somehow 20 years have passed.
The amount of time is inconsequential. What matters right now is that you feel it:
the drive for more
the desire to spread out and take up more space
to release the pressure to perform the same old act you know by heart—that was crafted by your passion, yet no longer lights you up
Here's what has been happening:
You built your business for stability. Of course, you did. You are wise and good at what you do. Your business needs consistency to thrive, but you, my dear, you need variety. You need newness and inspiration to keep growing.
How do I know this?
Because you are a brilliant businesswoman, and brilliant minds need fuel. Businesses thrive on optimization. Humans thrive through evolution. You will inevitably experience moments of tension when growth cycles intersect.
You are an ever-evolving being, and the symptoms you are experiencing result from having outpaced your business's evolution.
Now, while it is very likely that structural adjustments are needed, you must first address this as an identity shift.
This is where most of the advice on the market would point you to a rebrand. And while I don't disagree with this in essence, my approach is a bit different. Before you spend the time, energy, and resources refreshing your company's look, you need to go inward.
You need to give yourself time and space to really understand who you are, right here, right now.
When you started building the version of your business that exists right now, you were building it for a version of you that did not yet exist in physical form. She was still forming conceptually, yet also driving as you moved things forward.
But at some point, she arrived… and then she kept evolving while you kept working; pressing on with the mission as directed.
Until you felt the squeeze.
You are not lost, and you know that. Yet something is clearly asking for expansion.
The truth is, you've just outgrown the version of you who has been managing the amazing and powerful work that you do every day.

Your creativity has evolved.
Your expression has evolved.
Your lifestyle has evolved.
Your leadership has evolved.
And it's time to honor that, to celebrate it, and to allow this new version of you to take her rightful place in the driver's seat.
Let me offer you some advice from someone who has traversed this same pivotal moment many times over. Don't attempt to do this work sitting in the same seat where you conduct your daily business.
You need a different point of view to shift your perspective.
The environment where you've been running your business every day is also the environment where your habits, mindsets, and routines have been continuously reinforced.
When you intentionally step into an unfamiliar place, your mind naturally becomes more curious, more observant, and more open to new possibilities. You begin asking different questions because you're seeing the world and yourself through fresh eyes.
That shift in perspective is exactly what's needed to recognize what has been trying to emerge.
I have spent more than 20 years in my career creating educational travel experiences for just this reason. Humans learn through meaningful experiences. We learn best when we do it together, even when we are focused on something deeply personal.
And there is no more powerful tool than travel as a catalyst for transformation.
Because travel creates intentional space for just that. It activates your curiosity and gives you both figurative and physical shifts of perspective.
Through my work, I have had the opportunity to witness personal and professional transformation more times than I can count. Over the past decade of working with visionary entrepreneurs, I have found this to be true:
You evolve first as a person, yet your business is most often where you notice the tension first.
So, if any of this resonates for you right now, I invite you to permit yourself to explore it.
Don't rush forward to restructure your entire business overnight.
Don't jump into a total rebrand without first discovering what you are actually highlighting in this next phase.
But do slow down for long enough to listen.
Give yourself gracious spaciousness to notice what feels most alive
Understand what has run its course
Play with what keeps asking for your attention yet still feels unclear
Expand into all that you have become
The answers will easily emerge when you create intentional space to receive them.
This is exactly why we created the Glow Up and Grease retreat. To create the kind of intentional space that allows you to reconnect with this version of yourself that has been begging for your time, energy, and appreciation.
Are you ready to illuminate the brilliance of who you’ve become?
You don’t need a new strategy to accomplish this. You just need intentional space.
Now, imagine with me for a moment. You make the bold choice to step away from the demands of your daily life for 8 full days.
Wandering the cobblestone streets of Athens, your feet navigate unfamiliar paths while your mind works to interpret your surroundings. And something begins to shift.
Curiosity awakens!
Old patterns loosen their grip.
You stop seeing the world the way you always have, and begin experiencing yourself differently within it.
This is where your glow up begins.
Each experience is intentionally designed to help you:
Reconnect with your own wisdom
Gain a fresh perspective
Harmonize the evolution you’ve already experienced as an embodied expression of your life, leadership, and business
Capture this essence in easeful and tangible forms so that you can share it with the world
If this article feels like it was written just for you, I invite you to follow your curiosity.
